Lab Service: Genetic Testing

Genetic testing looks at your genes, which are found in your DNA, to analyze if any unusual changes may lead to a disease, like cancer. This test can help spot genetic mutations, which give you a higher risk of developing an illness than the general population. The results that come from genetic testing can help you and your doctor make more informed medical decisions and find more effective treatments that can lower your risk of developing a disease.

Testing Process:

Step One: Dr. Bennett will sit down with you to better understand your medical history and the history of cancer (if any) within your family. This information is needed to begin the process.

Step Two: There are two ways to collect DNA: blood or a buccal swab (simple swab inside of your mouth).

Step Three: After the DNA lab completes the testing, Dr. Bennett will go over the results and provide genetic counseling.

Step Four: Your insurance may cover the cost of the lab testing. If so, your out of pocket expense would be $165. If insurance does not cover the testing cost, your out of pocket expense would be $415.
